Dr Olivier Cotsaftis

Dr Olivier Cotsaftis (PhD, MBA) is a transdisciplinary researcher exploring pathways towards circular, regenerative and more-than-human futures. At RMIT University School of Design, his work is broadly focused on the materiality, aesthetics, politics and economics of sustainability in the 21st century, and he has a specific interest in next-gen biomaterials and their application in architecture and design. Before joining RMIT, Ollie spent 10 years in Industry, engaging with start-ups, not-for-profits, governments and blue-chip companies. He was a design lead at Fjord Design and Innovation and the founder of future ensemble studio. Most recently, Ollie also joined the editorial board of Research Methods: Biotechnology Design (Cambridge Press, UK). Ollie’s headshot speaks about the need to decentre the human from the design process as we’re transitioning out of the Anthropocene.
